15 Aug 2014
The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed Aug. 15 at 7:45 PM for one minute in memory of the legendary stage and screen star Lauren Bacall, who died Aug. 12 at the age of 89.
"Lauren Bacall had a distinct presence on stage and screen during a career that spanned decades,” said Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of The Broadway League, in a statement. “Along with her talent and memorable performances, her timeless beauty and witty intelligence will be remembered. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and fans.”
Set in the magical world of La Belle Epoque Paris, where fashion, glamour, and passion prevail, Lerner and Loewe's celebrated musical is a romantic comedy about one young woman's journey to find her true self... and her true love.
