Broadway's Beautiful Getting New Mann and Weil

News   Broadway's Beautiful Getting New Mann and Weil Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced that Ben Jacoby, previously seen in the U.S. tour of The Phantom of the Opera, has been chosen to take over role of songwriter Barry Mann in the Broadway production of Beautiful—The Carole King Musical beginning March 1.

Jacoby will take over for Tony Award nominee Jarrod Spector, whose last performance is scheduled for Feb. 28.

Jessica Keenan Wynn, who assumed the role of Mann's collaborator Cynthia Weil for another Tony Award nominee, Anika Larsen, for six months in 2015, will return to take over the role beginning April 26. Larsen’s last performance is scheduled for April 24.

The musical traces the early years in the life and career of songwriter Carole King, and includes her friendships with fellow songwriters Mann and Weil.

The current Broadway cast of Beautiful also includes Chilina Kennedy as Carole King, Scott J. Campbell as Gerry Goffin, Paul Anthony Stewart as Don Kirshner, Tony Award nominee Liz Larsen as Genie Klein, and an ensemble that includes Gisela Adisa, J. Daughtry, Josh Davis, Kevin Duda, James Harkness, Brittney Johnson, Sara King, Julia Knitel, Douglas Lyons, Rob Marnell, Gabrielle Reid, Rashidra Scott, Sara Sheperd, Kimber Sprawl, Yasmeen Sulieman, Daniel Torres, Melvin Tunstall and Alan Wiggins.

The show is currently playing on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, in London at the Aldwych Theatre and on a tour of North America.

With a book by Tony and Academy Award nominee Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Josh Prince, Beautiful features songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil.
