Actress Jessie Fisher, who has stood-by for the role of "Girl" in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Once, will assume the leading role in the musical June 17 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
Fisher succeeds U.K. actress Joanna Christie in the role. Christie began performances in the musical last summer and will depart the production June 15.
Once is directed by John Tiffany (Black Watch), with movement by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch, American Idiot) and music supervision and orchestrations by Martin Lowe (Mamma Mia!). It won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. Once premiered on Broadway in March 2012 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
The production has set and costume design by Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (The Coast of Utopia, Mary Poppins). Lighting design is by Tony winner Natasha Katz (Aida, The Coast of Utopia), and sound design is by Clive Goodwin.
