In the episode titled "The Power of Love," Cohen (Gallagher) sings the Solomon Burke song as a dedication to his wife Kirsten (played by actress Kelly Rowan) for their 20th anniversary. Sometime stage actor Tate Donovan (Lobby Hero, Picnic) is also a regular on the drama.

Gallagher has appeared on Broadway in the Grease, The Corn Is Green, The Real Thing and the revivals of Noises Off, Guys and Dolls and Long Day's Journey Into Night — earning a Tony Award nomination for the latter production in 1986. He also appeared in the benefit concert of Funny Girl and Off-Broadway in The Exonerated.
