Lance Horne: After Independence, featuring the songs of composer-lyricist Horne, is presented July 5 at 8 PM at 54 Below.
Joining composer Horne are Bryce Ryness(Hair), Alexandra Silber (Master Class), Kathryn Gallagher, Bridget Everett (Jukebox Jackie) and international cabaret diva Meow Meow.
Audiences can expect to hear tunes from Horne's new musical The $trip as well as his forthcoming solo album, "These Nights."
Doors open at 6 PM.
Horne is a composer and lyricist (solo CD, "First Things Last"), vocal arranger (Broadway’s Little Women), and musical director (Alan Cumming, Kristen Chenoweth, etc). His work has led to awards from ASCAP, the Jonathan Larson Foundation and an Emmy for his work on "One Life to Live."
There is a $20-$30 cover charge and a $25 food/drink minimum.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
