Cady Huffman, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Scott Drummond, Florencia Lozano Will Read David Rhodes' Consent in NYC
18 Mar 2014
Choice Films (Summer Crockett Moore, Tony Glazer), Michael Cohen, Robin Reinach and Ben Feldman will present an invite-only reading of David Rhodes' new play Consent, directed by Drama Desk Award winner Josh Hecht, March 31 in New York City.
Here's how the work is billed: "A new play about sex, power and intimacy in the 21st century, Consent follows, Ron Sullivan, living the American dream. A natural athlete and former pro-NFL football player, he married his high school sweetheart and achieved early success as an award winning architect. But recently Ron has made some changes. He came out as gay, divorced his wife, and moved into a TriBeCa loft. Now a chance encounter with Kurt, a Yale law student nearly half Ron's age, changes his life forever. Neither man, nor the two most important women in Ron’s life, will ever be the same."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
