The cast members of the pop musical comedy inspired by the Aristophanes comedy Lysistrata will record in the future. "Hey everyone, recording going great," reads one tweet. "Just a reminder, cast isn't here today — orchestral recording."
No label or future release date are announced for the disc that will preserve Flinn's frisky score. Musical direction is by Brad Simmons.
It was announced on Feb. 29 that the Broadway cast of Lysistrata Jones will "give it up" April 9 in a one-night-only concert version of the acclaimed Broadway score at Joe's Pub.
The 7 PM performance will feature Flinn onstage with the band. Tickets are $15 advance/$18 at the door and can be purchased at www.joespub.com.
The Broadway company of Lysistrata Jones — which played Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre Nov. 12, 2011-Jan. 8, 2012, earning a rave from the New York Times — included Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones), Liz Mikel (Hetaira), Josh Segarra (Mick), Jason Tam (Xander), and Lindsay Nicole Chambers (Robin) with Alexander Aguilar ('Uardo), Ato Blankson-Wood (Tyllus), Katie Boren (Lampito), Kat Nejat (Cleonice), LaQuet Sharnell (Myrrhine), Teddy Toye (Harold) and Alex Wyse (Cinesius).
In the show, according to production notes, "The Athens University basketball team hasn't won a game in 30 years. But when spunky transfer student Lysistrata Jones (Patti Murin) dares the squad's fed-up girlfriends to stop 'giving it up' to their boyfriends until they win a game, their legendary losing streak could be coming to an end. In this boisterous new musical comedy, Lyssie J. and her girl-power posse give Aristophanes' classic comedy a sexy, modern twist and take student activism to a whole new level."
