18 Mar 2014
In celebration of Rock of Ages' fifth anniversary on Broadway, the cast of the Tony Award-nominated musical will perform on NBC's "Today Show" March 20.
As previously announced, Rock of Ages is marking its fifth anniversary on Broadway by toasting its social network of fans with a month-long celebration, "#RockofAge5," which continues through April 14. Randi Zuckerberg, who stepped into the role of community leader Regina through March 28, kicked off the events.
The cast will perform on "Today" in the 8 AM hour and again in-studio with Kathie Lee and Hoda in the 10 AM hour. This is the first time the cast returns to perform on the plaza since their appearance five years ago on May 25, 2009.
Additional "social surprises" will be announced at a later date.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
