Casting Announced for Margarita and Max, Part of Midtown International Theatre Festival
09 Jul 2013
Manuel Igrejas' Margarita and Max will be presented July 23-28 at the Dorothy Strelsin Theater as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival.
Directed by David Hilder, the cast will feature Kim McKean and Craig Fox.
"Margarita is having a rough time," press notes state. "She’s unemployed, broke and newly unattached. She’s on her way to catch a bus to New York City to interview for a menial job she probably won’t get. She could use a miracle. A strong spring breeze blows one of those ubiquitous black plastic bags into her path…and into her life. This is no ordinary bag and this is no ordinary day."
Manuel Igrejas’ previous plays include Shrinkage, Kitty and Lina, Miss Mary Dugan and Hassan and Sylvia (both Fresh Fruit Festival Best Play winners).
Show times are July 23 at 7:30 PM, July 27 at 6 PM and July 28 at 8:30 PM. Running time is 60 minutes.
Dorothy Strelsin Theater is located at 312 West 36th St. For tickets, priced $15, visit www.midtownfestival.org or call (866) 811-4111.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
