Charles Fuller's play One Night..., directed by Clinton Turner Davis, will begin preview performances Oct. 17, prior to an official opening night Oct. 30. Performances will continue through Nov. 24.
" One Night…. takes an unflinching look at what has happened to women in the U.S. Armed Forces when their decision to serve their country exposes them to an unforeseen battle against their fellow soldiers," press notes state. "Home from war, One Night… explores the lingering effects of trauma and injustice and one woman's recompense. "
The creative team includes set design by John McDermott, costume design by Jessica Jahn, lighting design by Nicole Pearce and video design by Gil Sperling.
Casting will be announced at a later date.
The producers of One Night… have announced that five percent of each ticket sale will be donated to organizations that support Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans who are victims of sexual assault. Patrons will have the opportunity match the donation when purchasing tickets. The season will continue with the world premiere of Joe Pintauro's revised version of Snow Orchid. The familial drama focuses on an Italian family living in Brooklyn in 1964. The family consists of a home-bound matriarch who longs for her native Sicily, her husband, who has just returned home from rehab, and their sons.
Snow Orchid begins previews Jan. 7 prior to an official opening night which will be announced at a later date. Performances continue through Feb. 2.
As previously reported, the Cherry Lane is currently hosting two of the five productions of Lucy Thurber's The Hilltown Plays: Scarcity and the world premiere of Ashville. Performances continue through Sept. 28.
The season will also feature the Master Class series, a program of one-night-only evenings featuring playwrights David Henry Hwang (Sept. 9 at 7 PM) and Kia Corthron (Sept. 16 at 7 PM) and award-winning writer/producer/director Matt Williams (Nov. 18 at 7 PM).
