Cheyenne Jackson Replaces Sean Hayes in Film Adaptation of Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks
12 Mar 2013
Cheyenne Jackson, most recently seen on Broadway in The Performers, has replaced Tony Award nominee Sean Hayes in the lead role of the independent film "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks," according to Deadline.com.
Jackson will play Michael Minetti opposite Gena Rowlands (Middle of the Night) as Lily Harrison. In the film, Harrison, a Florida widow, hires a New York dance instructor (Jackson) for six weeks, and despite differences, the two discover they have more in common than they thought, and a friendship blossoms.
The work opened on Broadway in October 2003 at the Belasco Theatre and starred Polly Bergen and Mark Hamill.
Andras Somkuti will produce the film with Marc Platt and Jerry Offsay as executive producers.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
