LeFranc is the author of Off-Broadway's current The Big Meal. His new play premiering at the Rep is called Troublemaker, or The Freakin Kick-A Adventures of Bradley Boatright.
Troublemaker is set in working-class Rhode Island, where "Bradley and his bestest friend tangle with rich kid Jake Miller and some middle-school goons," according to Rep notes. "Their nemesis has help from a bunch of zombies and grown-ups! Put down that backpack, turn up the soundtrack, and let's cut class. Faster than a speedboat, more fun than a video game, Troublemaker has a sassy mouth and an irresistible heart of gold. "
Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman will direct her adaptation of the Chinese fable The White Snake at the Rep for the holidays. Mark Wing-Davey will stage Shakespeare's Pericles, Prince of Tyre.
Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare's one-man An Iliad, about the Trojan War and its modern echoes, will also appear. It's currently appearing Off-Broadway with O'Hare alternating with Stephen Spinella. Casting for the Peterson-directed Rep run will be announced.
Two additional works will be added to the slate. Tony Taccone is the Rep's artistic director.
