The Broadway company of the international hit musical Wicked welcomes several new cast members to the long-running production at the Gershwin Theatre beginning Feb. 25.

Christine Dwyer assumes the role of Elphaba after recently performing that role in the musical's national tour, and Jenni Barber (The Nance, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) steps into the role of Glinda.

Justin Guarini, most recently seen on Broadway in Romeo and Juliet and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, is the latest actor to play Fiyero, and two-time Tony nominee Mary Testa assumes the role of Madame Morrible. P.J. Benjamin, who has performed the role of The Wizard both on Broadway and on tour, returns to the New York company in that role.

These artists join a cast that currently includes Catherine Charlebois as Nessarose, K. Todd Freeman as Dr. Dillamond and Michael Wartella as Boq. (Lindsay Mendez, Alli Mauzey, Kyle Dean Massey, Carol Kane and Tom McGowan played their final performances Feb. 22.)

Adapted from the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked delves into the back story of the iconic characters from Oz. The musical has a score by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, direction by Joe Mantello and musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

The production also features scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, projections by Elaine J. McCarthy, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, music supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott.

Wicked won Tony Awards for Costume Design, Scenic Design and Best Actress in a Musical (Idina Menzel). It was nominated as Best Musical.

The musical is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.
