Christmas in New York to Play in Manchester and London with Eden Espinosa Joining West End Cast
05 Nov 2013
Broadway's Eden Espinosa, best known for playing Elphaba in Wicked, will star in Christmas in New York, a revue of seasonal songs that will play Manchester's Palace Theatre Dec. 7 and the West End's Palace Theatre Dec. 9.
Also featured will be the West End's Tori Allen-Martin, Lucy May Barker, Andy Coxon, Luke Kempner and Zoe Rainey, joined by Julie Atherton in London only.
Produced by Neil Eckersley for Speckulation Entertainment, the show has artistic supervision by Paul Spicer and musical direction by Joe Louis Robinson. It is based on a concept conceived by Neil Eckersley, Paul Spicer, David Randall and Julie Atherton as part of the Notes from New York series.
Songs include festive favorites such as "White Christmas," carols including "O Holy Night," a dose of Andrew Lloyd Webber and even a Mariah Carey Christmas song (or two).
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
