Dan Fogelberg Musical Will Get NYC Staged Reading

News   Dan Fogelberg Musical Will Get NYC Staged Reading Part of the Plan, a new musical featuring the music of late songwriter Dan Fogelberg, will receive a New York City staged reading under the direction of two-time Tony Award nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett, according to an Equity casting notice.

Kate Atkinson and Karen Harris have written the book for Part of the Plan, which "follows three decades in the lives of an adopted boy and the teenage girl of privilege who was forced to give him up. Part of the Plan takes us through the boom times of post-World War II America, the social and sexual revolution of the 1960's, and the political upheaval of the 1970’s. It deals with themes of love, loss, friendship and fate - how everything is always part of a greater plan." Fogelberg, who died in 2007, wrote such songs as "Same Auld Lang Syne," "Longer" and "Leader of the Band," among others.

Taylor-Corbett (Swing!) will helm the 29-hour AEA reading that will take place in early November. Michael Moricz is musical director. The show has arrangements by Victor Vanacore with special guitar arrangements by Laurence Juber.

The new musical is being developed by Purple Mountain Productions (Atkinson), Piece of the Action (Harris) and WalkRunFly (Warren Adams and Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon).
