The Michael Grandage-helmed production officially opened on Broadway April 20 after previews that began April 12. The production arrived in New York after a sold-out London run last summer.
The production earned Tony nominations for Best Revival, Best Direction, Best Featured Actress ( Sarah Greene), Lighting Design, Scenic Design and Sound Design.
McDonagh's play was previously seen Off-Broadway in 1998 at the Public Theater and in 2008 at the Atlantic Theater.
Radcliffe (" Harry Potter," Equus, How to Succeed...) repeats his performance as Billy, alongside West End cast members Ingrid Craigie (Kate Osborne), Pádraic Delaney (Babbybobby), Sarah Greene (Helen McCormick), Gillian Hanna (Eileen Osborne), Gary Lilburn (Doctor), Conor MacNeill (Bartley McCormick), Pat Shortt (Johnnypateenmike) and June Watson (Mammy). According to producers, "Set on the remote island of Inishmaan off the west coast of Ireland, word arrives that a Hollywood film is being made on the neighboring island of Inishmore. The one person who wants to be in the film more than anybody is young Cripple Billy (Radcliffe), if only to break away from the bitter tedium of his daily life. Martin McDonagh's comic masterpiece examines an ordinary coming of age in extraordinary circumstances and confirms his position as one of the most original Irish voices to emerge in the second half of the twentieth century."
The Broadway production was produced by Michael Grandage Company, Arielle Tepper Madover, L.T.D. Productions, Martin McCallum, Stephanie P. McClelland, Stacey Mindich, Starry Night Entertainment, and The Shubert Organization.
The Cort Theatre is located at 138 West 48th Street.
