Complete casting has been announced for LA Opera's upcoming production of The Ghosts of Versailles, which will begin performances Feb. 7, 2015, starring two-time Tony winner Patti LuPone under the direction of Tony winner Darko Tresnjak.

The opera, which will play select dates through March 1, was penned by composer John Corigliano with libretto by William M. Hoffman.

In addition to LuPone, who will play the role of Samira, the cast will also feature Patricia Racette as Marie Antoinette, Christopher Maltman as Beaumarchais, Robert Brubaker as Begearss, Lucas Meachem as Figaro, Lucy Schaufer as Susanna, Richard Croft as Count Almaviva, Guanqun Yu as Rosina (Countess Almaviva), Stacey Tappan as Florestine, Brenton Ryan as Léon, Kristinn Sigmundsson as Louis XVI, Scott Scully as Marquis, Joel Sorensen as Wilhelm, Renée Rapier as Cherubino, Victoria Livengood as Woman in a Hat and Philip Cokorinos as Suleyman Pasha with Summer Hassan, Lacey Jo Benter, Frederick Ballentine and Patrick Blackwell as The Ghost Quartet and So Young Park, Vanessa Becerra and Peabody Southwell as the Gossips.

James Conlon will conduct the orchestra.

"Trapped in the spirit world," according to LA Opera, "the ghost of Marie Antoinette bitterly reflects on her final suffering. Her favorite playwright tries to entertain the melancholy queen with the continuing adventures of his beloved characters from The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro. But sneaky Figaro refuses to play by the script, breaking free from the opera-within-the-opera in a surprise bid for a better life."

The production will also have choreography by Peggy Hickey, scenic design by Alexander Dodge, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by York Kennedy and projection design by Aaron Rhyne. The chorus master is Grant Gershon.
