Woody Sez, according to ATF, "brings Guthrie to life in a joyous, toe‐tapping, and moving theatrical portrait that uses Woody's words and songs, performed by the company of four actor/singers who play over twenty instruments, transporting the audience through Guthrie’s fascinating, beautiful, and sometimes tragic life. With more than twenty‐five classic Woody tunes including 'This Land is Your Land,' 'Pastures of Plenty' and 'Bound for Glory,' Woody Sez captures the heart and spirit of Woody Guthrie and the stories of America."
One of the most influential songwriters and balladeers of the 20th century, Guthrie transformed folk music into a vehicle for social protest and captured the adversity and hardship of a generation during the Great Depression. Songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash and more have been influenced by his work.
ATF will also offer post‐show "hootenannies" led by cast members following the July 21 and July 26 performances. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own instruments and join in a free‐form musical celebration across the street from the theatre on the Davidson Brothers Brewing Company patio (184 Glen Street). Founded in 1995, Adirondack Theatre Festival is committed to producing new and contemporary works of theatre. ATF operates under a Small Professional Theatre Agreement with Actors' Equity Association.
The Charles R. Wood Theater is located at 207 Glens Street in Glens Falls, NY. For more information and tickets, call (518) 974‐0800 or visit AFTFestival.org.
