David Margulies, Frances Sternhagen and Maria Tucci take part in the Westport Country Playhouse's Nov. 12 Script in Hand reading of Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro's Over the River and Through the Woods.
Anne Keefe directs the 7 PM reading that also features Matthew Amendt, Nicole Lowrance and Lenny Wolpe.
A Tony winner for Memphis, DiPietro's play is billed as a "comedy about a single, Italian-American guy who visits his beloved, though annoying, grandparents every Sunday for dinner."
Tickets are $15. Tickets for the reading and post-performance dessert reception with the cast are $50. For tickets visit WestportPlayhouse.org.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
