Sarah Ruhl ( In the Next Room, Eurydice) has adapted the Chekhov classic. Performances will begin Oct. 24 and will continue through Nov. 21 in the Robert S. Marx Theatre. The production, which officially opens Oct. 29, marks Doyle's first non-musical for American audiences.
Leading the company are Hannah Cabell ( A Man for All Seasons) as Irina, Alma Cuervo ( Road Show, Titanic) as Olga and Laila Robins ( Frozen, Heartbreak House) as Masha.
Tony Award winner Frank Wood ( Side Man, August: Osage County) will portray Tuzenbach, with Alexander Gemignani ( Road Show, Sweeney Todd) as Andrei, Lynn Cohen ( Ivanov, Chasing Manet) as Anfisa, Keith Reddin ( The Play's the Thing) as Kulygin, Corey Stoll ( Old Acquaintance) as Vershinin, Sarah Agnew as Natasha, Terry Greiss as Chebutykin and Felix Solis as Solyony.
The Playhouse in the Park describes Three Sisters as "a poignant tale of love and dreams and the never-ending pursuit of happiness."
The creative team will feature past Doyle collaborators: Tony-winning costume designer Ann Hould-Ward ( Company, Road Show), lighting designer Jane Cox ( Road Show) and Tony-winning scenic designer Scott Pask ( Coast of Utopia).
Doyle, who has also staged Sweeney Todd, A Catered Affair and Road Show in New York, previously staged the 2006 actor-musician revival of Stephen Sondheim's Company at the Playhouse prior to its Tony-winning Broadway transfer.
