Drama League Will Hold Open Rehearsal for Fill Our Mouths, Featuring Cast of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Performers
31 Jul 2013
A free open rehearsal of Lauren Feldman's new play Fill Our Mouths will be held Aug. 1 from 2-3 PM at The Drama League Theater Center in New York City as part of the Drama League's New Directors/New Works series.
Directed by Lauren Keating, Fill Our Mouths features a cast of deaf, hearing and hard-of-hearing performers and American Sign Language interpreters, including Craig Fogel, Ashley Graham, Monique Holt, Irene Sofia Lucio (Wit), Claire Morrison, Moses Villarama, Alexandria Wailes (Big River) and Amy Kim Waschke.
This new bilingual work, according to the Drama League, "follows the journey of two women as their concepts of language and love change. Collaborating with a cast of deaf, hearing and hard-of-hearing performers and American Sign Language interpreters, Fill Our Mouths explores relationships, the power and failure of language and the need for self-identification. Above all, Fill Our Mouths is a love story that explores the most integral connection of the human experience."
Playwright Feldman's other works include Amanuensis; The Egg-Layers; A People; and Grace, or The Art of Climbing, among others.
Following the rehearsal, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with members of the production. The Drama League Theater Center is located at 32 Avenue of the Americas. For reservations, email email@example.com or call (212) 244-9494 ext. 101.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
