Tony Award winner Eddie Redmayne (Red) will play Stephen Hawking in the biopic film "Theory of Everything," according to Deadline.com.
Redmayne, who recently starred as the student revolutionary Marius in the movie "Les Misérables," will play the famed physicist who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh, the Working Title film will focus on the relationship between Hawking and his wife.
"Theory of Everything" would mark a second collaboration between Redmayne and Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner from "Les Misérables."
Redmayne is currently filming "Jupiter Ascending," directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski, with Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
