Evita's Loni Ackerman Brings Next to Ab-Normal to the Metropolitan Room Beginning March 2
02 Mar 2012
Loni Ackerman, who played the title role during the original Broadway run of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita and was most recently seen as Norma Desmond in the Gateway's production of Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, brings an all-new concert act to the Metropolitan Room beginning March 2.
Entitled Next to Ab-Normal, performances are scheduled for March 2, 20 and 23 at 7 PM. Directed by Barry Kleinbort, the evenings feature musical direction by Paul Greenwood.
Ackerman, according to press notes, recalls "personal stories of her unusual New York upbringing (including her childhood associations with such 'family friends' as Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon), [and revisits] songs she sang in New York hits like Starting Here, Starting Now or in one of her lengthy associations with the shows of Andrew Lloyd Webber....Ackerman's repertoire also includes charming standards, contemporary songs, even one of her own compositions which became the theme song for a 'very special' French film made during her time in Paris."
The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 W. 22nd Street. For reservations call (212) 206-0440 or visit www.metropolitanroom.com.
