Fascinating Aida to Reprise Charm Offensive for Edinburgh Fringe, U.K. Tour and London's Queen Elizabeth Hall
19 May 2014
Veteran U.K. comedy cabaret trio Fascinating Aida will reprise their hit show Charm Offensive at this year's Edinburgh Fringe, followed by a national tour and a return season at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall in the New Year, where they also appeared last Christmas.
They will appear at Edinburgh's Udderbelly in Bristo Square July 31-Aug. 25, then following more touring dates will visit London's Queen Elizabeth Hall Jan. 1-11, 2015.
The troupe, founded in 1983 by Dillie Keane, who was joined by key writing partner Adèle Anderson in 1984 and is now completed by Liza Pullman, last year celebrated 30 years of touring. They have previously played London seasons at the Donmar Warehouse, Lyric Hammersmith, Piccadilly, Vaudeville, Garrick, Apollo and Comedy theatres and the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. They have toured Australia three times, including a month at the Sydney Opera House, and also played New Zealand, San Francisco, New York, Berlin, Kenya, South Africa and Singapore.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
