Felicia Finley, Tracy McDowell, Sara Schmidt, Nick Cosgrove Set for Reading of New Musical Motel Rasdell
21 Jan 2013
Good to Go Entertainment will present an industry reading of their inaugural project, the new musical Motel Rasdell, Jan. 22 in New York City.
The musical, which was penned by Danielle DeMatteo (music and lyrics) and Chrisina Bracco (book), will be directed by Donnie Kehr.
"We’re thrilled to be a part of the seminal stage of this exciting new musical," said producer Cori Gardner in a statement. "After a successful reading this past summer performed with Hofstra University students, we’re excited with the talent interested in taking part at this next phase of development."
"Set in a Boston suburb in the 1950s," press notes state, Motel Rasdell "tells the story of how worlds collide and secrets are revealed when cracks in the veneer of a 'perfect' nuclear family appear in the form of a clandestine involvement with members of society’s seediest fringe as themes of hypocrisy, home and family are explored."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
