According to the New York Times, Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher (South Pacific) will helm the fall 2015 revival, which will be produced by Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel. Tony nominee Danny Burstein (Golden Boy, South Pacific, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) has been in discussion for the role of Tevye.
The revival will be based on the original conception and choreography of Jerome Robbins, who won a 1965 Tony Award for his direction and choreography of the musical, and will feature choreography by Israeli-born artist Hofesh Shechter.
No theatre for the revival has been announced.
The musical was last revived on Broadway in 2004 and starred Tony nominee Alfred Molina and Tony winner Randy Graff. Added to that Fiddler was a new song, written by Jerry Bock (music) and Sheldon Harnick (lyrics), called "Topsy-Turvy," an animated moment for Yente, the matchmaker, and the village women in Act Two.
