First Mondays With David Yazbek and His Warmest Regards, a new series with three-time Tony Award nominee David Yazbek and his band that is held on the first Monday of each month, kicks off Dec. 3 at 8 PM at 92YTribeca.
His first show, rescheduled from Nov. 5 due to Hurricane Sandy, welcomes Tony Award-winning lyricist and composer, as well as longtime friend and former bandmate, Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza).
Yazbek, whose influences range from Captain Beefheart to Frank Loesser, "plans to deliver musical pyrotechnics, new songs debuted at every show, and unexpected, thrilling guests from the worlds of theatre, music, comedy and beyond," according to 92YTribeca.
Yazbek, a recording artist, vocalist and pianist, is a three-time Tony Award nominee for his work on Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The Full Monty. He also contributed additional lyrics to Broadway's Bombay Dreams.
92YTribeca is located at 200 Hudson Street. For more information, visit 92YTribeca.org.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
