"Five Dances," a new film from writer-director Alan Brown ("Private Romeo") that stars Matilda and Newsies dancer Ryan Steele, opens in New York City Oct. 4 at Cinema Village. A national release will follow.

Choreographed by Jonah Bokaer, the dance film — an official selection of the Seattle International Film Festival 2013, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival 2013, Opening Night - Dance On Camera 2013 and more — also features Reed Luplau, Catherine Miller, Kimiye Corwin and Luke Murphy.

Here's how the film is described: "The coming of age tale of an extraordinarily gifted young dancer recently arrived in New York City, 'Five Dances' is a visually sensual glimpse of life and first love in the downtown contemporary dance world."
