Foster, who stars as down-on-his-luck plant-shop worker Seymour in the Jerry Zaks-directed production, is leaving his role to join the cast of the Tony-winning musical The Producers. As previously reported, Foster will join that cast June 15 as timid accountant Leo Bloom.
Little Shop will also welcome two other new actors this month. Beginning June 22, Jessica-Snow Wilson will succeed Kerry Butler as the lovable, but ill-fated Audrey. And, Robert Evan begins his stint as dentist Orin Scrivello — and a handful of other roles — June 29. Evan replaces Douglas Sills, who departs June 13. Understudy Darren Ritchie will plays Sills' roles during the interim.
Hunter Foster received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance By a Leading Actor in a Musical for his work in Little Shop of Horrors. His previous Broadway credits include Bobby Strong in Urinetown; Footloose; Grease!; and Les Misérables, and he also took part in the concert presentation of Alan Menken and Tim Rice's King David. Foster was seen in the national tours of Martin Guerre and Cats as well as the Paper Mill production of Children of Eden. Also a writer, he penned the book for the musical Summer of '42, which was mounted at the Variety Arts Theatre.
