Freestyle Love Supreme, the freestyle hip hop crew featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda, who currently stars in the Encores! production of Merrily We Roll Along, will play the Gramercy Theatre April 7.
The 7:30 PM performance, directed by Thomas Kail (Magic/Bird, In the Heights, Lombardi), will also feature Anthony Veneziale ("Trauma," PBS' "The Electric Company"), Chris "Shockwave" Sullivan (PBS' "The Electric Company"), James Iglehart (Memphis, PBS’ "The Electric Company") and singer-songwriter Arthur Lewis.
Miranda, creator of the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights, teams up with other members of the Heights cast and creative team in Freestyle Love Supreme to "take the crowd on a non-stop, hip hop improv ride, spinning cues from the audience into instantaneous riffs and fully realized musical numbers."
The Gramercy Theatre is located at 127 E. 23rd Street. For more information and tickets, call (800) 745-3000 or visit www.livenation.com or www.freestylelovesupreme.com.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
