Fathom Events and Omniverse Vision have announced plans to film the London stage musical From Here To Eternity, penned by Tim Rice, Stuart Brayson and Bill Oakes, which will arrive in U.S. movie theatres later this year. A 2015 Broadway production may follow.

A release announcing the filming of the musical states that the U.S. cinema arrival will precede a Broadway production slated for 2015. This is the first news of a New York production for From Here To Eternity, which will end its run March 29 at the West End's Shaftesbury Theatre.

Representatives for the London musical did not immediately respond to Playbill.com's request for comment on the news. It marks Rice's first new London musical in 13 years. He is the lyricist of such works as Evita, Chess, Aida, The Lion King and Jesus Christ Superstar.

"After four years of partnering with Fathom Events, it is hugely exciting to embark on our first co-production deal. After a highly successful six-month West End run, this will be a fantastic chance for Fathom audiences to see the U.K. production first, before it hits Broadway in 2015," Omniverse Vision CEO, Grant Calton, said in a statement.

The musical based on James Jones' 1951 debut novel that's best known for the 1953 Oscar-winning film that starred Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra, Montgomery Clift, Ernest Borgnine, Deborah Kerr and Donna Reed, will have run for six months, having begun performances Sept. 30, 2013, prior to an official opening Oct. 23.

The cast is led by Darius Campbell as Warden, Robert Lonsdale as Prewitt, Ryan Sampson as Maggie, Siubhan Harrison as Lorene and Rebecca Thornill as Karen.

It is directed by Tamara Harvey, designed by Soutra Gilmour and choreographed by Javier de Frutos. It is produced by Tim Rice and Lee Menzies for Eternity Productions Limited.
