Georgia Stitt, Ken Davenport and Cesar Rocha Discover the Next Big Star Tonight in NYC
22 May 2014
Songwriter and music director Georgia Stitt, producer Ken Davenport and casting director Cesar Rocha judge BroadwaySpotted's Next Big Star competition finalists, who sing live May 22 at the Davenport Theatre in New York City.
After a national online search, votes have been tallied, and the top 10 finalists have been announced. They include Maggie Bera, Sara Glancy, Sean Green Jr., Emma Hearn, Frank L. Humphrey III, Devin Lewis, Jordan McCaskill, Tyler McKenzie, Ben Walker and Hannah Zazzaro.
The winner, determined by a panel of judges and popular audience vote, receives a $500 grand prize and more.
Sheri Sanders ("Rock The Audition") hosts the evening, which begins at 7 PM and is judged by Tony Award-winning producer Davenport (Kinky Boots, Godspell), casting director Rocha (C.S.A, Telsey + Company), composer-lyricist Stitt (This Ordinary Thursday) and NYC voice teacher Robert Sussuma.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
