Glenn Close, Kathy Bates, Danny Glover and Octavia Spencer to Star in "The Great Gilly Hopkins"

Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee Glenn Close ("Damages," Sunset Boulevard) and Tony nominee and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates ('night, Mother; "Misery") will star in "The Great Gilly Hopkins," according to Deadline.com.
Sophie Nélisse ("The Book Thief," "Pawn Sacrifice") will play the title role, co-starring with Danny Glover (Master Harold...and the Boys, "Lethal Weapon") and Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer ("The Help," "Pretty Ugly People").
The story follows a girl who moves from one foster home to another, until she ends up at the home of Maime Trotter, who will be played by Bates.
Adapted from Katherine Paterson's Newbery Award-winning novel, the film will feature a script by David Paterson and will be be directed by Stephen Herek.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
