The Washington, DC-area premiere of Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage opens April 17 at Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, boasting a cast of DC performers including Helen Hayes Award winners Naomi Jacobson (Richard II at Shakespeare Theatre Company and Vigils at Woolly Mammoth Theatre) and Andy Brownstein (Assassins at Signature).
Paul Morella (Angels in America at Signature) and Vanessa Lock (Nest and In the Absence of Spring at Signature) are also featured. Helen Hayes Award winner Joe Calarco (Urinetown, Assassins and Side Show at Signature) directs the dark comedy about parents misbehaving. It runs to June 24. Previews began April 10.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
