The Grammy Award-winning Nicaraguan singer, known as “El Principe de la Salsa” (The Prince of Salsa), will perform through Aug. 18.
The production, which includes 16 tango dancers, one vocalist and an 11-piece orchestra, currently features vocalist Gilberto Santa Rosa and Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, from "Dancing With the Stars."
"I feel deeply moved to be making my Broadway debut in Forever Tango," Enrique said in a statement. "I learned the tango from my grandfather. The music you learn with a loved one remains in your heart forever and I am excited to relive childhood memories through this tremendous opportunity."
Forever Tango originally opened on Broadway in 1997, receiving numerous Drama Desk and Tony Award nominations. It returned to Broadway for a four-month engagement in 2004.
Forever Tango began performances July 9 at the Water Kerr Theatre.
