Last seen on Broadway in After Midnight, LaBelle will portray a townsperson who reveals the deadly secrets of Twisty the clown killer. Her character is the mother of returning cast member Gabourey Sidibe in "AHS: Freak Show." LaBelle has also appeared on Broadway in Fela!, Your Arms Too Short to Box With God and her own concert evenings.

The Hollywood Reporter states that LaBelle is not slated to sing during her stint on the series. Last season Stevie Nicks offered a musical performance during her guest appearance on "American Horror Story: Coven."

As previously reported, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare and Emma Roberts will return for "American Horror Story: Freak Show," which will also include newcomers Finn Wittrock, Michael Chiklis, John Carroll Lynch and "Hunger Games" actor Wes Bentley.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" will air in October.
