Tony Award-winning actor B.D. Wong will star in staged concerts of the new musical Heading East May 24-26 at 8 PM in the Asia Society's Lila Acheson Wallace Auditorium.

The cast will also feature Cindy Cheung, Fay Ann Lee and Manu Narayan. Darren Lee directs.

Heading East, a Richard Rodgers Development Award-winning musical by Robert Lee and Leon Ko, is set primarily in San Francisco from 1848-1981. The musical, according to press notes, "tells the story of Siu Yee Tong, a brazen young man who travels from drought- and famine-ridden China to the shores of Gold Rush-era San Francisco determined to be America's next great success story. What follows is his lifelong quest to reinvent himself as a true-blooded American icon, against the tumultuous backdrop of 15 decades of American history. While the narrative spans nearly 150 years, the characters age over the course of a single lifetime."

Lex Liang is the production designer, Phillip Rosenberg is the lighting designer, and Leon Rothenberg is the sound designer for the concert.

B.D. Wong won Tony, Drama Desk and Theatre World awards for his Broadway debut in M. Butterfly. He has also been seen on Broadway in Face Value; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and Pacific Overtures. His screen credits include "Law and Order: SVU," "Oz," "Jurassic Park," "The Freshman," "Father of the Bride," "Seven Years in Tibet" and "Mulan."
