"Glee" actors Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Harry Shum, Jr., who have all been with the Fox musical series since its first season, will no longer be series regulars, according to Deadline.com.
On the upcoming fifth season, which will premiere on Fox in September, new cast members Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty), Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Alex Newell (Wade aka "Unique") will be promoted to series regulars.
Morris (Brittany), Salling (Puck), Riley (Mercedes) and Shum, Jr. (Mike) join original cast members Dianna Agron (Quinn) and Jayma Mays (Emma), whose characters were also downgraded last season.
"Glee" is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and Dante Di Loreto serve as executive producers.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
