Houston Production of Elf, With Mark Jacoby, Jessica Rush, Adam Heller and More, Begins Dec. 6

Tony Award nominee Mark Jacoby, who originated the role of overworked dad Walter Hobbs in the Broadway production of Elf, repeats his work in the Theatre Under the Stars production of the holiday musical, which begins Dec. 6 in Houston, TX.

Jacoby (Show Boat, Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd) is joined by Tommy J. Dose (My Fair Lady) as Buddy, Jessica Rush (Jersey Boys) as Jovie, Cynthia Ferrer (Singin’ In The Rain) as Emily, fellow original Broadway Elf cast member Adam Heller (Victor/Victoria) as Mr. Greenway, Julia Krohn (A Chorus Line) as Deb, Michael Tapley (42nd Street) as the Macy's Manager and William Hartery (Cats) as Santa.

For the TUTS production the role of younger brother Michael has been changed to Michelle. TUTS' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre students Mallory Bechtel and McKenna Marmolejo share the role.

Elf is directed by Bruce Lumpkin and features choreography by Michelle Gaudette. Jeff Rizzo is musical director. The sound designer is Kit Bond, and the lighting designer is Richard Winkler.

Performances run through Dec. 22.



The cast also includes Caitlin Cannon, Venny Carranza, Logan Keslar, Megan McGuff, Alaina Mills, Dennis O'Bannion, Elizabeth Racanelli, Mark C. Reis, Shay Rodgers, Adrienne Storrs, Michael Anthony Sylvester, Paxton Tanner, Marrell West, Karley Willock, Natalie Davidson, Lauren Dodds, Promise Facciponte, Alexa Magro, Savannah May and Garret Morris.

The musical comedy based on the 2003 film of the same title has a score by Wedding Singer songwriters Matthew Sklar (music) and Chad Beguelin (lyrics) and a book by Tony Award winners Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Thomas Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers).
