Hugh Jackman Shares Image from "Greatest Showman on Earth" Recording Session with Pasek and Paul

Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman has shared a photo from the first day of recording for the upcoming live-action 20th Century Fox film musical "The Greatest Showman on Earth."

As previously reported, Michael Gracey is directing the film that stars Jackman as P.T. Barnum. A full creative team has not been announced; however, in the image that Jackman shared, the star and director Gracey are pictured with Tony-nominated Christmas Story writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The film will focus on Barnum's relationship with opera singer Jenny Lind. Jackman and John Palermo are producing with Laurence Mark, who is also pictured. Bill Condon ("Dreamgirls," Side Show) was brought on board to rewrite the original screenplay for the project that was penned by Jenny Bicks ("Sex and the City").

Jackman, who was seen on screen in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," earned a Tony Award for his work in the Broadway musical The Boy From Oz. He is also known for his film roles in the "X-Men" trilogy, "Someone Like You," "Swordfish," "Kate and Leopold," "Van Helsing," "The Fountain" and "Happy Feet" (in voice). His stage credits also include Trevor Nunn's staging of Oklahoma! at Britian's National Theatre and award-winning work in productions of Sunset Boulevard and Beauty and the Beast in his homeland. He was also seen in the film version of Les Miserables. Jackman recently bowed out of the Stephen Schwartz musical Houdini.
