The 12th edition of the Bistro Award-winning series If It Only Even Runs a Minute, celebrating rare songs, behind-the-scenes tales and inspiring photos from underappreciated musicals, is held April 21 at 54 Below.
Created and hosted by 54 Below director of programming Jennifer Ashley Tepper and The Book of Mormon's Kevin Michael Murphy, the 9:30 PM concert includes performances and stories from original cast members and writers of selected shows as well as new interpretations of songs.
Joshua Zecher-Ross is the evening's musical director.
The 12th edition features stories about and songs from Borscht Capades, Chess, Climb High, The Gospel at Colonus, The King of Schnorrers, Lennon, Let My People Come, Mr. President, Ride the Winds, Ruthless!, The Selling of the President, Up in One, Weird Romance and more.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
