Il Divo – A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs of Broadway, a concert engagement featuring the operatic pop group and Tony Award-winning special guest Heather Headley, concludes its Broadway engagement Nov. 13 after performances that began Nov. 7 at the Marquis Theatre.
The six-concert run featured songs from such shows as The Phantom of the Opera, Carousel andWest Side Story. It was presented by Live Nation and James L. Nederlander.
The international quartet features tenor Urs Buhler of Switzerland, baritone Carlos Marin of Spain, pop artist Sébastien Izambard of France and tenor David Miller from the United States.
Headley (Aida, The Lion King, The Bodyguard) appeared with Il Divo for all six concerts.
The quartet have a history with musical theatre; Marín played Marius in Les Misérables when the show first premiered in Spain in 1993, while Miller played Rodolfo in the 2003 Broadway production of La Bohème. Il Divo have sold over 26 million albums worldwide, achieved over 50 number one records, received 160 gold and platinum sales awards in over 33 countries and staged four groundbreaking world tours.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
