Jackie Burns and Chandra Lee Schwartz are off to meet the Wizard in the Broadway production of the smash-hit Tony-nominated musical Wicked beginning Sept. 27 at the Gershwin Theatre.

Burns (Hair, Rock of Ages) and Schwartz (Gypsy with Bernadette Peters, Hairspray, High School Musical) appeared in the first national tour of Wicked as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, and will repeat their performances for Broadway audiences.

Burns and Schwartz replace Teal Wicks and Katie Rose Clark, who currently star in the Broadway production.

Broadway Wicked principal cast members currently include Richard H. Blake as Fiyero, Kathy Fitzgerald as Madame Morrible, Tom McGowan as The Wizard, Etai BenShlomo as Boq, Cristy Candler as Nessarose and Tom Flynn as Dr. Dillamond.

Adapted from the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked delves into the back story of the iconic characters from Oz. The hit musical has a score by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, direction by Joe Mantello and musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
