Comedic actress Jackie Hoffman, best known to Broadway audiences for her performance in multiple roles in the Tony-winning Hairspray, returns to Joe's Pub Dec. 20 with a new holiday-themed show.
Entitled Jackie Hoffman: Heeb for the Holidays, performances are scheduled for Dec. 20-24 at 7:30 PM.
The evenings are directed by Michael Schiralli with musical direction by Bobby Peaco.
"What happens to a Jewish straight woman on a gay cruise during Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur?" press notes ask. "How does an unwanted aging actress survive in a New York overtaken by billionaires' toddlers? These questions may or may not be answered at Jackie Hoffman's long awaited return to Joe’s Pub."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
