The season will open with The Second City Does Dallas, a send-up of all things Dallas by the renowned improv group, that will run Aug. 19-Oct. 6. Jaime Castañeda will direct Diaz's The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, the acclaimed racial allegory about a black prize-fighter's over-the-top battle with success, which runs Oct. 19-Nov. 25.
DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty will stage King Lear, running Jan. 18-Feb. 17, 2013; which will be followed by John Logan's Tony-winning Mark Rothko drama Red, under the direction of Joel Ferrell, Feb. 8-March 10, 2013.
Aguirre-Sacasa ("Glee," Spider-Man, It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman) has authored The Dracula Cycle, a three-act retelling of Bram Stoker's classic, that will be staged by Moriarity March 15-April 28, 2013.
The new musical Fly By Night, by Will Connolly, Michael Mitnick and Kim Rosenstock, will run April 26-May 26, 2013, under the direction of Bill Fennelly.
The final production will be Fly, a new musical adaptation of J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan," that will run July 2-Aug. 18, 2013. Tony Award-winning producer Jeffrey Seller (In the Heights, Rent, Avenue Q) will make his directorial debut on the production that has a score by Tony-winning In the Heights orchestrator/arranger Sherman and choreography by Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler (In the Heights). Playwright Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) penned the new adaptation, which brings the story to an adult level.
The annual production of A Christmas Carol, directed and choreographed by Joel Ferrell, will return Nov. 25-Dec. 24.
