Jerry Mitchell Will Direct and Choreograph Hollywood Bowl Hairspray

Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, currently represented on Broadway with the new musical Catch Me If You Can, will direct and choreograph the Hollywood Bowl's summer production of the Tony-winning musical Hairspray.
Three performances of the Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman, Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan musical, which is based on the film of the same name, will play the famed California venue Aug. 5-7.
Lon Hoyt will be the musical director for the production. Mitchell was the original choreographer of Hairspray on Broadway, and Hoyt was the original musical director.
Casting and other creative team members will be announced at a later date.
The Bowl has presented acclaimed productions of Rent, Les Miserables and Guys and Dolls in recent summers.
