22 Jan 2013
John Michael Coppola, who appeared in the Chicago and Las Vegas casts of Jersey Boys, will star as Bobby in the William Street Repertory production of Company, which will begin performances Feb. 1 at the Raue Center for The Arts in Crystal Lake, IL.
Coppola understudied and performed the role of Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys and will now headline the production of the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical Company – about New York City bachelor Bobby and his clutch of married friends – which will run through Feb. 16. Richard Kuranda will direct.
The cast also features Matthias Austin (Peter), Sarah Breidenbach (Jenny), Chris Davis (David), Amy Ferraro (Sarah), Amanda Flahive (Amy), Frank Gaughan (Larry), Kate Hein (Marta), Mark R. Mahallak (Harry), Dana Parker (April), Teresa Arnold (Kathy), J. Matthew Madigan (Paul), Mary K. Nigohosian (Joanne) and Miriam Naponelli (Susan).
The creative team for Company includes T. Paul Lowry (scenic and projection design), John Dwyer (sound designer), Rebecca Lowry (costume design), Mike Potts (music director), Steven Spera (lighting designer) and Chesney Murphy (choreographer).
Tickets are on sale now online via rauecenter.org, and through the box office at 26 N. Williams Street or by calling (815) 356-9212.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
