Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey and Daniel Stern, who starred in Broadway's The Other Place, have been cast in WGN America's 13-episode drama series "Manhattan," according to Deadline.com.
Hickey and Stern join a cast that also features Rachel Brosnahan (The Big Knife), Ashley Zukerman and Harry Lloyd.
"Manhattan," penned by Sam Shaw and directed by Thomas Schlamme, will follow scientists and their families and is set during the clandestine mission to build the world's first atomic bomb in Los Alamos, NM.
Hickey will play Frank Winter, a physics professor who will lead the Manhattan Project, and Stern will play Glen Babbit, a mentor to the younger physicists working on the project.
Hickey has also been seen on Broadway in Mary Stuart, The Crucible, Cabaret and Love! Valour! Compassion!
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
