Infinitum Nihil, the production company from Oscar nominee Johnny Depp, has partnered with Yellow Bird Productions ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo") and Emmy-winning writer-producer Tom Fontana for a scripted series based on the plays of William Shakespeare, according to Deadline.com.
Randall Fontana will pen the project, which is described as "a modern take on the plays of The Bard, building on the existing characters and plots from several of [Shakespeare's] most notable plays."
Infinitum Nihil, which is run by Depp's sister Christi Dembrowski, will executive produce alongside Yellow Bird Productions and Tom Fontana.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
