Beach and Musgrove give their last performance on Aug. 29. Beach—who originated the role of the flamboyantly untalented director, and has been with the production during much of its more-than-three-year run—is leaving to begin rehearsals for the new Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles.
Freeman won a Tony nomination for his portrayal of an autocratic headwaiter in the 1994 Broadway revival of She Loves Me. Since then, he has appeared in How to Succeed..., opposite future Producers star Matthew Broderick; On the Town; and 42nd Street. Ashmanskas was most recently on Broadway in Gyspy. His other Broadway credits include Little Me, Dream and How to Succeed...
Hunter Foster, having thwacked his way through the thicket of Little Shop of Horrors, earning a Tony Award nomination for his work, moved on to somewhere else that's green June 15 when he stepped into The Producers on Broadway. He plays the Producers' accountant Leo Bloom opposite Brad Oscar as Max Bialystock.
